Pole Choreography Classes
Intro to Heels for Pole
This Pole level 1.5 and up class. You should have solid level 1 skills in your wheel house. Spins, climbs, pull up to a sit, and different hand grips should be familiar. For example: Pirouettes, twisted grip, side climb, brass monkey position maybe part of any given combination. Class time will be focused on how to combine tricks with transitions in heels to create a seamless flowing combination. Mainly static pole rotation but spinning pole will also be included from time-to-time.
Adding heels to your dance is like adding another piece of equipment. Obviously they add height and weight. Your ankles, knees, thighs and hips will feel it. Visually heels add length and extension to your lines, making your legs look amazing. However they can be tricky and awkward with just walking, shifting weight and even lifting. This class will help you in these areas.
What to Bring: You will need professional dancer stiletto heels (no street shoes please). Pleaser Shoes pleasershoes.com or Hella Heels us.hellaheels.com are two popular companies to buy from and usually offer first time buyer discount. They can be any style heel but we recommend a clear plastic ankle strap vs. fabric strap or ankle boots. No mules or open back slide shoes. Height can range from 6-8 inch, no 9 inch please. Bring Knee pads (highly recommended), socks, t-shirt, water and grip aid should be included in your dance bag. There are several companies that make knee pads for pole dancers. Or you can buy a sport knee pad like for volleyball to start with.
What to Expect: Starting with a short warm up without heels. Then adding heels with specific ankle and leg warm up. You will learn specific techniques on how to pivot, slide and glide in your heels. Exercises to strengthen your ankles, legs and body. Learn transitions from pole down to floor, floor up to pole, clacks, baby drops and more. We will string together a short combination, practice with music and also a little free time to explore.
